Oh, snap–LAUNCH WEEK!

I can’t believe Launch Week for Bad Girls has finally arrived!

Photobucket

In honor of this week, every day I’m going to have some sort of contest of giveaway or download. I’ll also be including links to bloggers and websites who are kind enough to feature the book (or me!), so feel free to check those out!

Today

  • My sister debutante Kristina Riggle is blogging about BGDD the Debutante Ball.
  • Faithful “friend of the Debs,” Larramie, has done an amazingly thorough and thoughtful profile of yours truly over at her blog, Seize a Daisy.
  • And don’t forget to check out the latest reviews and interviews listed on the PRESS page.

    Big contest
So, winning the big contest gets you a signed copy of the book, either for yourself or for a teen (or non-teen) reader of your choice. I will also name a character in my next project after you or the reasonably-named person of your choice (sorry, Ben Dover… no need to play along). Now, mind you, finding your name in that project in a bookstore depends on my actually selling it first, but let’s be optimistic here!

    Here’s how to enter:

(1 entry per day) – comment here all week
(1 extra entry) – post a link to my blog and the contest at your blog
(1 extra Tuesday entry) – comment at the Debutante Ball on Tuesday

…plus bonus extra-credit assignments throughout the week!

Unfortunately, I need to confine this particular contest to the North American continent or places that are easy to mail things to via US Postal Service (such as military personnel). But you can still get your name in a book!

At the end of the week, I will randomly choose a winner from all of the entries, using a random number generator. I will also choose a door prize, which would be the person whose number lands dead last on the random number generator list. You will get something that reflects your lowly but still very special status. ;-)

So please stick around and help keep me sane! I can really use every bit of help you can give me.

Feel free to follow my Launch Week minute-to-minute anxieties on Twitter.

Some people have inquired about getting signed copies of the book. I’m working on finding a store that will allow you to order the signed copies directly… but if you just want a signed bookplate, please email me at katie (at) katiealender (dot) com with your name, address, and what you want written on your bookplate–the rule of thumb is one request per person, within the US and Canada, and no generic autographs, please!

Or if you want to send the actual book to me, use the contact form to request a mailing address… and please be sure to include return postage!

    1. This is going to be so much fun! I’m so excited. :) Bookmarked your site!

    2. Hi, Kate! Thanks for stopping by, and for contacting me this morning!

    3. Amber says:

Do you have ANY idea how excited I am about your book FINALLY being on bookshelves in my area?

So excited, I might pee. Like a puppy dog.

I remember the day you sold the book. I remember the day you got your agent. I remember the first time I read it.

*sniff* I’m getting all weepy! I’m so very, very, very excited for you, Katie, and so very, very, very lucky to have had even a small part in helping with that wonderful, exciting book of yours!

    4. Amber says:

(I’m not really entering the contest, but I just wanted to let you know…I posted at CL for you, and you KNOW I’ll be blogging about you this week, too!

      Squee!)

    5. I’m excited! I can’t wait to read your book (apparently I’m not as lucky as Amber, but excited all the same). And I’m not even a teen… LOL

So please enter me. :o ) And I’ll post about it over at my blog as well so anyone wandering through can enter, too.

    6. patti says:

I am so excited for you, what a great time. I can’t wait to read the book.

    7. Larramie says:

Talk about thorough, so are your detailed rules! LOL Btw, I think your readers would like to know of your amazing kindness that can be read here.

      Have fun, Katie!

    8. Donna S says:

      Congrats on the launch.

I have read so much about your book I cant wait to read it. I am so excited I might finally be able to find a copy.

Heres to a fun and exciting week!

      As an aside:

I was browsing around your site here, and found links to your ‘relic’ writings. It brought to mind the file full, FULL, of letters which I have saved from you over the years.

      Ribbit, ribbit?

Full. of. letters. from a young Katie. I wonder what they’ll sell for on eBay when you are world famous.

    11. Eileen says:

I couldn’t be happier for you. Huge congrats

    12. laura says:

I’m in but I just want to know how the hell you’re going to keep track of all this!

    13. JPK says:

Again, SUPER JOB, Katie! Even though I only really know you through the blogging world, I’m really proud of what you’ve accomplished. You’ve trudged on. You’ve persevered. You’ve motivated me, and you should feel good in knowing that you were able to touch someone up in the frozen tundra of Alberta, Canada…. eh?

Can’t wait to read your book. I’ve always had a link to you on my blog, so do I automatically get another entry, or should I re-link you?

    14. Erika Lynn says:

I am so excited for your books! happy launch week!
and I blogged about it here
      http://kissmybook.blogspot.com/2009/04/bad-girls-dont-die-contest.html

    15. Thank you all so much for coming by! I’ll do real comment replies tomorrow… right now I’m falling asleep at the computer so I’m going to stick to the ones that ask questions.

Jason, the extra point (LOL… it’s like Calvinball) is for mentioning the contest in an actual post.

Laura, LMAO! I’ll manage… I have a good strategy! So far, anyway.

Juli — ribbit. Ribbit! Ribbit ribbit ribbit.

    16. Jacqueline says:

Oooh! Launch Week! How exciting! Congrats!

Okay, I’ve now run out of exclamation marks.

    17. Kelly says:

Katie I am so stinking excited for you!!!! Amber told us about it on CL and I had to come say hi! I cannot wait to read the book! SQEEEEEEE!!!!! ~Special K

    18. Megan says:

Yeah Congrats and your launch week is so cool. I am so excited about this week.

      Megan

    19. MaryWitzl says:

      Yippee, your book is out!!!

I’m gutted that I can’t play along, but there is no guarantee a package would reach me anyway, so I do understand (sniff).

I’ll try to come back soon — for some reason, the university computers click out on certain blogs, and yours is one of them. I can’t figure it out, but then there are so many things like that…

    20. Aw, yay! This is so exciting. Congrats on your release week. Yay for parties!!

      -Lauren

    21. Mary says:

How exciting…count me in for this contest and you don’t even have to name a character after me…you can use my DD…her married name is much more literary worthy…Sara McCall. (shameless plug for my baby!!!)

    22. ashley says:

Oooh, to have a character in a book named after oneself. How exciting.

    23. Oh, Amber! Thank you! And your copy is going to be on its way… as soon as I can get the USPS site to let me print my shipping label. It’s a conspiracy, I tell you! And the worst part is, I can’t even stop on the way home from work to mail it because I have Winston in the car, and it’s 90+ degrees right now. Doh!

Hi, Lindsey! Thanks so much for coming by to say hello!

      Sharon, I know, right?

      Thank you, Patti. :-)

Larramie, you’re too kind. What you call my kindness was just me having fun (and maybe trying to follow your example a little).

Donna, I hope you do find a copy! Climb up on the counter and DEMAND they order it! LOL.

      Lisa, thank you.

Juli, thanks for calling earlier! And wow, aren’t you glad you didn’t throw those letters in the fire with the comics? ;-)

Eileen, thank you! You have been a tremendous friend to me over the years.

Laura, I already said this, but L my AO. Seriously. (*snootily*) I’ll have you know I have a very detailed system. You remember how much care I took with the ants–you think I can’t manage one little contest? LOL.

Jason, thank you. You have been a great blogfriend and supporter over these past months. Now, back to work!

Erika, thank you! And thanks for the link.

Jacqueline, thank you. And here, borrow some of mine!!!!!!

Kelly, aww, thanks! I miss you guys.

Megan, wow! You just turned 14 and have your own review blog? You go, girl! Thanks for coming by to say hi. :-) Heaven knows what I will do if you win, because there’s already a character named Megan in Bad Girls! LOL.

Mary, I’m sorry. However, you know I’ve been planning to, erm, borrow your name for quite some time, so at least no worries on that end! And I guess the university computers must be jealous of my blog’s awesomeness. LOL!

      Lauren, thank you!

Mary, that’s very giving of you! And what a lovely name. It’s the name of a person with a lot of integrity.

Ashley, thanks for commenting! Sometimes authors need all the help they can get coming up with names. So these contests are even cheating a little, ha ha!

    24. MJ says:

      Congrats!!! I hope I win!!!

      mj.coward[at]gmail.com

    25. Good luck. I wish you the best

    26. Oh what an amazing launch week you have set up!

I have seen your book around the blogosphere lately and have been deeply intrigued!

    27. Yan says:

      YAY KATIE!!! *throws confetti*
