Multitasking schmultitasking.

I went back to work this week.

It wasn’t as bad as I feared. In fact, due to the facts (1) that my job is pretty cool, (2) my co-workers are pretty cool, and (3) I get PAID for going to work, unlike sitting at home during hiatus, I have had a good week.

It does cut down on one’s free time, but since it’s not making me miserable I won’t even bother whining about that.

In actual writing news (imagine that!), I continued a three-week morning-noon-night revisions effort this week, using fewer noons and more mornings and nights to finish up the revisions and send them to the Delightful Editor on the day I promised them to her many weeks ago. I sat back feeling extremely accomplished and very relieved, and then she immediately sent an email saying she might not get to it for a couple of weeks and if I continue to revise just send it on over.

All right. I will continue to revise. I have a horrible sinking feeling, in fact, that somewhere in the manuscript is a paragrah that ends with an unfinished sentence. I couldn’t find it yesterday for the life of me, so that will be something I can continue to look for.

In reading news, I am loving A.J. Jacobs’ The Year of Living Biblically. I have read some books lately that felt so effortless and conversational, and this is one of them. It’s a fun read.

In life news, five years ago yesterday…

    Welcome back!

I read this post and went to the link about the book. Um, have you ever tried to say “biblically” (bib lic al ly) out loud several times? I don’t know about you – but it was quite amusing in my house.

  2. Katie Alender says:

I haven’t tried that… but I remember one night in 1995 when the word “apocalyptic” became too complex to say out loud. Apocaliptstick? Apopaplextic?

Thanks for the welcome back! ;-)

Wow, Katie — you are BEAUTIFUL! And your husband is handsome, and you both look radiant in that picture. Happy 5th anniversary!

I’ve got our wedding pictures somewhere. I always look at the people in them and feel like they’re a couple I used to know. It’s hard to remember how they thought and felt.

  4. Eileen says:

    Congrats on the anniversary!

    Happy anniversary, Katie.

Why do I not see most of the pictures that you post on your blog topics?

I missed Winston in his cone…. had no idea that there was a picture of you & Chris on this topic, and there are several other pictures you’ve referenced that I don’t see. Is it me? Is it my computer settings? I see pictures on other places.

Oh, yes – happy anniversary! Funny memory, I was at a wedding five years ago, and the flower girl developed stage fright….. all we could hear was her brother (ring bearer) yelling, “DROP THE FLOWERS, [insert flower girl's name]!” repeatedly. She never did make it down the aisle.

    Beautiful wedding, though. :)

  8. Katie Alender says:

    Thanks for the anniversary wishes!

4Horses, funny… I think I went to a wedding like that, too. (And I don’t know why you can’t see photos. I host most of them through Flickr or Photobucket.)
