Present!
I’m here! I’m slipping in under the wire, but it still counts, right?
In honor of the success of the new Alice in Wonderland movie, I’m going to post my favorite poem, which happens to be written by Lewis Carroll. And we’ll forego the Daily Plah for today since I have exciting nothing to report. Took the dog for a long hike, and he was well behaved for 70% of it. Picked up another worm bare-handed.
Enjoy!
A Boat Beneath a Sunny Sky
A boat beneath a sunny sky,
Lingering onward dreamily
In an evening of July —
Children three that nestle near,
Eager eye and willing ear,
Pleased a simple tale to hear —
Long has paled that sunny sky:
Echoes fade and memories die:
Autumn frosts have slain July.
Still she haunts me, phantomwise,
Alice moving under skies
Never seen by waking eyes.
Children yet, the tale to hear,
Eager eye and willing ear,
Lovingly shall nestle near.
In a Wonderland they lie,
Dreaming as the days go by,
Dreaming as the summers die:
Ever drifting down the stream —
Lingering in the golden gleam —
Life, what is it but a dream?

This poem just slays me.
- Cover-centric
- Saturday Morning
- It’s mighty whaleish out there.
- Five movies I wasn’t supposed to like.

Did I tell you that the quilt you made for Chuck lived in her room with us while she was in the hospital? And that it spent a large portion of its time snuggled around her so that she’d have a piece of home with her? And that every nurse and doctor loved it and wanted to know where we bought it?
I took the opportunity to brag about knowing you and how you were all famous for writing a book and stuff. I think they were jealous.
Hi Katie, My name is Cyndi and I found your blog through Laura’s blog – Sew at Sea. I just watched the video trailer for your book, Bad Girls Don’t Die, and I am hooked. I’m going out this week to pick up a copy. I love mysteries, ghost stories, vampires, etc. and this book looks like it’s right up my alley. Can’t wait to read it!
Kindest regards,
Cyndi
Thanks, Cyndi! Any friend of Laura’s is welcome here! I hope you enjoy the book.
Amber, that gives me the serious warm fuzzies. Like, you have no idea! I’m so glad that Chuck got to have a piece of home with her, and so honored that it was my quilt. Thank you for telling me!
